
BOSETU Gender Conference hit the right spots
On 23 June 2023, Gender Reps across the country converged at Francistown for the annual Gender Conference.
As enshrined in the constitution, BOSETU Gender desk staged a conference which will go a long way in the memories of those who attended.
In her opening remarks, BOSETU Secretary for Gender Affairs Cde Hildah Keitumetse highlighted that BOSETU has a Gender Policy that has 5 thematic areas being
- a) women in leadership
- b) LGBTIQQ
- c) members with disability
- d) gender based violence
- e) young leaders.
“ These are the areas which our policy centers around. As a desk, we have a bigger role to paly so that we influence policy and legislative deciosions on these areas,” she said.
She further hinted that over the years, BOSETU managed to address gender issues through its structures from cells.
Key note address was given by SATUCC Executive Secretary cde Mavis Anna Koogotsitse. Her address hit the right spots as all delegates resonated with her speech. She pointed out that women leaders must be disciplined, have integrity and must be self motivated.
She further highlighted that not all men are bad; there are those who want to see women grow by offering them opportunities and mentorship.
The 2023 conference was held under the theme Women in Leadership: building their social status through social influence
