
BOSETU Signs MOU with Boitekanelo College to Offer Short-Term Courses
Gaborone, Botswana – The Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Boitekanelo College, one of the leading tertiary institutions in Botswana, to offer short-term courses in counselling, occupational therapy and business leadership among others.
The MOU, signed on Friday 3rd Mach by BOSETU’s Secretary for Education, Research and Training signed, Mr. Karabo Rampha, and Boitekanelo College’s Founder, Dr. Tiro Mampane aims to provide BOSETU members with affordable and accessible training in these necessary fields, which are in high demand in the country.
According to Mampane, Boitekanelo College’s graduates are highly employableand sought after since Covid-19 pandemic. “We are committed to providing our students with world-class facilities and a high-quality education that equips them with the skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers,” he said.
BOSETU National Organizing Secretary Cde Mmoloki Bopa was elated by the partnership as it will benefit both teachers and learners. “Mental health is a big issue that affects all people across the world. If teachers enroll for such courses, they will be able to cope with pressures they face, and this will ensure learners are taught by health and happy teachers,” he said.
Under the MOU, BOSETU members will be able to enroll in short-term courses in counselling, occupational therapy and business leadership at Boitekanelo College’s campus in Gaborone. The courses will be offered at discounted rates to BOSETU members and will be taught by Boitekanelo College’s experienced faculty.
Both BOSETU and Boitekanelo College are also committed to conducting corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives that benefit the local community.
The MOU is expected to boost the skills and employability of BOSETU members and contribute to the development of Botswana’s education sector.
